Euripides (c. 480 – c. 406 BC) was a major Greek tragedian of classical Athens. He is one of only three whose plays have survived fully. Scholars attribute many plays to him. He has more intact plays than Aeschylus and Sophocles combined. Euripides became a cornerstone of ancient literary education. His work explores complex themes of human experience.
