About William Butler Yeats

William Butler Yeats (1865–1939) was a celebrated Irish poet dramatist and writer. He is one of the foremost figures of 20th-century literature. Yeats was a driving force behind the Irish Literary Revival. He co-founded the Abbey Theatre. He was awarded the 1923 Nobel Prize in Literature. Yeats later served two terms as a Senator. His early poetry was influenced by Irish legends and earlier poets. His later work became more physical and politicized.
