Tom Bradley (1917–1998) was a prominent American politician. He served as the 38th Mayor of Los Angeles from 1973 to 1993. Bradley was Los Angeles's first black mayor. He was also its longest-serving mayor. A former police officer and lawyer, he was elected to the Los Angeles City Council. Bradley's multiracial political coalition transformed the city. He appointed more women and people of color to positions than predecessors. He oversaw the first profitable Summer Olympics in 1984. The LAX international terminal is named after him.
