Oscar Wilde (1854–1900) was an Irish author poet and playwright. He became one of the most popular and influential playwrights in London in the early 1890s. Wilde is best known for his novel The Picture of Dorian Gray. His numerous epigrams and plays are also celebrated. He was known for his biting wit and flamboyant style.
