John Evelyn (1620–1706) was an English writer, diarist, and gardener. His detailed diaries provide a vivid account of 17th-century English society, covering topics from court life to scientific advancements. Evelyn was also a pioneering horticulturist, introducing new plant species to England and advocating for the importance of urban green spaces.
